MAN High 5 Festival
On a sunny day at Redbridge Sport & Leisure Centre on 2nd June 2009, 22 primary school teams took to the netball courts for a High 5 festival. The festival is made possible by MAN Group plc, in partnership with the London & South East Region, who, over the past 3 years has provided funding to develop High 5 in London boroughs.
The festival was keenly contested throughout the day with coaches/Team Managers keeping their squads focussed. Havelock, (Ealing) beat off competition from Barking Abbey Black, (Barking & Dagenham) in a thrilling final to take the gold medal and festival trophy. St James’s, (Richmond) and Weston Park, (Haringey) were the third placed teams in bronze medal position.
Burnt Oak (Bexley) won the Fair Play Award for being nominated the most number of times because of their attitude throughout the festival.
Antonia Simmonds, Brunel Talent Captain and Kadeen Corbin, Brunel Talent squad member & England Netball Talent 2, made a special trip to Redbridge to present medals, trophies and prizes to the winning teams.
The region would like to express its thanks to Eastbury School for providing volunteers to assist at the event. Thanks also to Pat Watson for her 3 Youth Umpires, and Les Jones the Tournament Referee.
England Netball is committed to delivering High 5 as the modified game for 9 to 11 year olds. Thank you to MAN Group plc for its support
